Doga delle Clavule Morellino Di Scansano 2016
Doga delle Clavule Morellino Di Scansano 2016
The Doga delle Clavule estate consists of 475 acres in the coastal Maremma region of Tuscany. The 101 acres of vines are primarily planted to Sangiovese, locally called Morellino. Since 1997, the estate has been owned by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, who also owns Altesino, Borgo Scopeto, and Caparzo. She and winemaker Massimo Bracalente are responsible for all aspects of the production of Doga delle Clavule wines. The estate spreads out over a hilly region, and soils are mainly sedimentary with some examples of neo-native loose soil, deriving from marine deposits of Pliocene origin. The proximity of Mount Amiata creates perfect climatic conditions: vineyards are protected from cold north winds and mitigated by sea breezes. This also reduces to a minimum the possibility of disease to the vine. Color: Fairly intense ruby. Bouquet: Intense and persistent, with sour cherries, blackberries, wild berry fruit, licorice and vanilla. Palate: Savory, full, persistent and harmonious. Food Pairing: Rich fish dishes, soups, pasta with meat sauce, red and white meats, moderately aged cheeses.

Herdade de Peso Trinca Bolotas Tinto 2016
Herdade de Peso Trinca Bolotas Tinto 2016
Herdade do Peso is located in Pedrogão within the Vidígueira commune of Alentejo, Portugal. 160 hectares are currently planted and include 152 acres of red grapes (Aragonês, Trincadeira Alfrocheiro, Periquita, Moreto and Touriga Nacional). This wine is a blend of 44% Alicante Bouschet, 40% Touriga Nacional, 16% Aragonez.  After malolactic fermentation, 70% of the wines aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks, the remainder aging for the same period in used French oak barrels. The wine underwent light fining and filtration prior to bottling. This wine is intense ruby in color with aromas of vibrant red fruits and floral notes. On the palate, it is well-balanced, with smooth tannins and lively acidity. A perfect food wine with good structure and a long finish.

Cottanera Etna Bianco 2014
Cottanera Etna Bianco 2014
Cottanera takes its name from a small, ancient village, owned by the Cambria family. The vineyards grow on lava stone, 700 meters above sea level, on the northern slopes of Mount Etna. This site was purchased by Francesco Cambria in 1962, seeking a retreat from his career in Messina. In the late 1980s, Francesco’s son Guglielmo decided to build a winery to make his own wine, rather than selling the grapes. In the mid-1990s, he renovated his father’s vineyards to increase density and lower yields, and the first wines labeled as Cottanera were born. This wine is made from the Carricante grape. Aromas of fresh citrus fruits (predominantly, grapefruit) with slight vegetal notes. On the palate it reveals wonderful body and texture, with the right level of acidity, to give a fresh, long-lasting sensation with some mineral, flint-like notes.

Bodegas-Peñafiel Mironia Reserva
Bodegas-Peñafiel Mironia Reserva
A relative newcomer to the burgeoning northern Spanish wine scene, Bodegas Penafiel is based in the heart of Ribera del Duero.  The estate combines the best of the old, with over 200 acres of historic vineyards, and the new, with state-of-the-art winemaking facilities.  Established in 2003, it has rapidly become synonymous with authentic, sustainable, quality-driven wines. Mironia Reserva is a largely comprised of tempranillo (tinta fino) with a small addition of merlot. The grapes are grown at altitude on south-facing slopes across Ribera del Duero, picked by hand at night and transported in small batches to preserve the outstanding fruit. Following a soft destemming and a one day cold soak, the pressings undergo a 15 day temperature-controlled fermentation and a 30-day malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged in 225L French oak barriques for 18 months, with another 12 months of aging in bottle prior to release. The resulting wine is an elegant, powerful and classic Ribera. Deep cherry red color with a light golden rim outlines the glass. In the nose shows dark ripe wild fruits aromas with spicy and balsamic hints. In the mouth is fleshy and lingering, with the elegance and power typical from our Ribera del Duero.

Hewitson Old Garden Mouvedre 2010
Hewitson Old Garden Mouvedre 2010
Established in 1998 Hewitson winery is situated in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Australia, on the historic Seppeltsfield Road and boasts some of the oldest vines in the world. The grapes for this wine are sourced from Hewitson’s Old Garden, an ancient vineyard of Mourvèdre planted in 1853 by Friedrich Koch. Old Garden has seen the entire history of Australia’s wine industry evolve around it. Having survived floods, fires, famines and the worldwide spread of Phylloxera in the late 1800s, this is the oldest-known surviving planting of Mourvèdre. “With a medium density of garnet color, the 2010 Mourvedre Old Garden is evolving into a meat and earth-laced bake berry and preserved plum character with nuances of new leather and underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, it delivers plenty of earthy/savory flavor with a firm backbone of chewy tannins and a good, long finish.” – 92 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

Château-de-Birot Cotes De Bordeaux 2014
Château-de-Birot Cotes De Bordeaux 2014
Located near Cadillac, on the right bank of the Garonne, Château Birot has been making wine with for over 200 years. Built during the second half of the 18th century for the important Bordeaux wine merchant Monsieur de Parouty, the estate was purchased in 1989 by Eric and Hélène Fournier-Casteja, both of whom hail from winemaking families throughout Sauternes and Saint-Émilion. Particular attention and care is given to the vineyard to control yields in order to ensure each grape the best possible development. The deliberate choice to maintain hedgerows among the parcels of vines at Château Birot is to reinforce protection for the local ecosystem, as well as to favor the reworking of soils that naturally protect against fungal diseases. This is a blend of Merlot (87%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (13%). Fermentation takes place in stainless steel. The wine ages for 18 months in a combination of barrels and concrete vats.  "Rich blackberry and black-currant flavors give this wine its ripe character. They are already well balanced by the spicy tannins and dry core. The wine will develop well and should be ready from 2019."

Agnes et Rene Mosse Les Gros 2017
This is an all around fun and unique wine, with a vibrant nose, loss of character, and very light body. There's a bit of natural co2 tingle, which seems to serve the wine by lifting the bright fruit and preserving the freshness, a touch of pepper and long mineral finish. We recommend a light chill and an open mind.  Grolleau or Grolleau noir is a red French wine grape variety that is grown primarily in the Loire Valley of France. The name is derived from the French word grolle, meaning "crow" and is said to reflect the deep black berries of the Grolleau vine

La Gritona Reposado Tequila
La Gritona Reposado Tequila
This exciting new tequila is made by one of the few but rising tide of female distillers in tequila country at the tiny NOM 1533 in the Valle de Guadalupe. Gritona is made according to traditional methods and because the team begins with perfectly ripened select highland agave plants, they ensure no shortcuts are necessary on their way to great tequila. The harvested plants are slow cooked in brick ovens and then left to naturally ferment with ambient yeasts before being double distilled in small pot stills. The new make spirit is then aged for 8 months in old American oak barrels. Complex and brooding in character the spirit gives off notes of caramelized fruit, ginger and pepper.

High West Distillery Double Rye!
High West Distillery Double Rye!
Marriage of two straight rye whiskies that combines the feisty properties of a high rye 2-year-old and the saddle smooth richness of a 16-year-old. The 2-year-old has a 95% rye 5% barley malt mashbill. The older rye has a "barely legal" rye mashbill of 53% rye and 37% corn. The extra age and corn provides some extra sweetness to calm the "bite" of the younger rye for a relationship that works. Thanks to its balance of cinnamon, anise, and honey, DOUBLE RYE!™ is great served neat, with a little water, or on the rocks. And its spirited flavor fortifies classic cocktails like the Manhattan and Old Fashioned. We recommend it for most occasions - sipping it in solitude by a campfire, savoring with favorite old friends, or sharing it with a good-looking stranger.
