Dr. Konstantin Frank Cabernet Franc
Medium intensity with leather, smoked meat, dark cherry, sun dried tomatoes, finishing with hearty tannins. The combination of European and American oak adds layers of spicy flavors. Food pairing: Prosciutto, cheese, tapenade, stuffed portobello mushrooms.
Cabernet Franc, the premier red grape of Bordeaux and the Loire Valley thrives here in New York's Finger Lakes, where it is considered one of the most promising varieties. This Cabernet Franc is grown on the steep slopes of deep glacial lakes which moderate the temperatures throughout the year. Aromas of black cherry, violets and cedar complement a medium tannin structure and long finish.
Dr. Konstantin Frank was the first to pioneer quality vinifera in the eastern United States. For over fifty years, the winery has been among the most prestigious in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York State.
