Maray Wines Chardonnay 2012

Maray Wines Chardonnay 2012

A young winemaking region, Maray is the pioneer wine producer in the Limarì Valley of Northern Chile. Maray Vineyard is owned by one of the world’s most renowned Chilean mining families; A “maray” [mahr-aye] is a tool that was used throughout Chilean mining. Proximity to the Pacific Ocean has made this area a cool desert. The soil is alluvial, loose, granule soils that were once part of a sea floor, and are made up of silt, clay, gravel, and sand, all often very mineral-rich.

Yellow color with green hints. Amazingly fresh, intense and complex, great minerality with citric and fresh pineapple on the nose plus a slight touch of French oak that adds more complexity to the wine. Full bodied, nice acidity and freshness in the palate again with a mineral touch and salty taste at the end. Very long and pleasant finish.

Wine EnthusiastMaray Chardonnay is crisp and mineral-driven on the nose, but not overly fruity. This is lean-bodied, with cidery, tangy acidity and dominating flavors of limestone-influenced citrus and stone fruits. It's a modest Chardonnay with finesse but not a whole lot of flavor.
